Our Story
Built for the woman the industry forgot
Where it began
I discovered power dressing before I could drive
I have always loved fashion. But I was afraid. Afraid that chasing something creative meant giving up stability, so I built a career in financial services instead — the kind of world where you wear a suit most days and no one blinks.
I didn't mind. I had been buying and curating blazers since I was a teenager. In school, I worked out something that stuck with me: the right clothes could make you feel confident when you weren't. Empowered when you felt anything but.
So the corporate world became, unexpectedly, my playground. Years into it, colleagues kept stopping me — where are you getting your suits? How are you building this wardrobe? I had bought the cheap ones, the mid-range ones, the expensive ones. I knew what made a great blazer regardless of price. I knew what good craftsmanship actually felt like on your body, all day, under pressure.
The Moment Everything Changed
My body changed overnight. The shops didn't care.
Two years ago, I gained a significant amount of weight in a short space of time. Seemingly overnight, the suits I had spent years carefully collecting stopped fitting. I needed to rebuild my work wardrobe, and I could not find a single thing.
The shops that catered for my new size — if they catered for it at all — had suits with proportions that made me feel like a column of cement in a car park. Not a woman trying to look good. Not a professional trying to feel herself. Just fabric draped badly over a body the industry had decided wasn't worth designing for properly.
I was furious. And I was done waiting for someone else to fix it.
The Decision
A trip that changed my brain chemistry.
I took a trip. I came back with a clarity I hadn't expected. If nobody was making what I needed — truly tailored suits, in natural fabrics, for a full size range, with the same level of care given to a size 8 as a size 22 — then I would make it myself.
I spent my savings. I found makers in Italy — the only place that made sense, given the craftsmanship I needed, the labour protections I cared about, and the fact that I could easily fly there to see the work with my own eyes.
That's how Marven was born. Not from a business plan. From a genuine need that wasn't being met, and a refusal to settle.
You should be so comfortable in what you're wearing that you forget you have a suit on — and be fully focused on your craft.
— The Founding Principle of Marven
What we stand for
-
Size inclusive — properly
We currently offer S–3XL (UK 22), with plans to expand to 5XL (UK 26) by the end of the year. Same pattern care, same quality fabrics, same tailoring. Every size. No afterthought alterations.
-
Sustainable, not performative
Our definition of sustainable is concrete: workers paid a living wage, in good conditions — Italy has some of the world's strongest labour protections. Natural fibres only. No polyester blends. Every piece can return to the earth within 24 months.
-
Modern luxury at a real price
Think the quality and discipline of MaxMara, made accessible. We are building a fresher, more inclusive version of that world — for women who refuse to compromise between how good something looks and how good it feels.
The Making
Made in Italy. No exceptions
-
Every Marven piece is made in Italy. The wool is Italian. The cupro lining is Italian. The threads, the buttons, the stitching — all Italian. This isn't a label. It's a choice that runs through every part of how we build.
Our blazers are cut with a cinched waist and generous room through the upper arm — because we know that's where tailoring so often fails bigger bodies.
Our trousers have an invisible adjustable waistband at the back — a discreet mechanism with up to four button options — so your suit moves with your body whether you're bloated, on your period, or just had a brilliant holiday. You don't reshape yourself to fit the clothes. The clothes reshape to fit you.
